Want to help cheer up your neighbors and build a sense of community? Get outdoors while staying socially distant - and pick up some roadside trash. It’s another way to show your community you care. The Town of Sherborn's Select Board and its Department of Public Works is supporting an ongoing community effort to pick up litter in Sherborn with the #Sherborn PickUps! initiative and with it, hopes to encourage positive change both locally and as part of the global community.
We are promoting April as a month-long volunteer effort to pick up the litter that has accumulated on our roadsides, adjacent to sidewalks, at the edges of recreational areas such as Fessenden and Laurel Field, and spilled into our wetlands, open spaces, and nature trails.
Together we can make a difference in our town, our natural environment - and get some exercise and fresh air along the way!
We are seeking volunteers to sign up for a place (or many places!) and rough time during the month of April to organize and work together in family groups (adhering to all state and local COVID advisories). Sign-up here for reserving your preferred street section.
Supporting information:
We are working together with the Town of Dover to promote this initiative within the regional school system in the hopes of raising awareness of and engagement in the problem of litter with residents of all ages across our two communities.
Sherborn is now an official chapter of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, a non-profit organization that supports community clean-up efforts across Massachusetts. DS High School Community Service hours are available for any #SherbornPicksUp efforts.
If you are interested in helping with this, please sign up and we will get back to you with more details. Thank you in advance for helping to Keep Sherborn Beautiful and for being part of this SherbornPicksUp community effort!
